Green Beans with Italian Sausage

This is a great "twist" on green beans that you'll love.

Serves: 4-6 servings


No speacial cooking equipment is needed for this recipe; however, a vegetable steamer for a microwave may be helpful.


1 pound of fresh Green Beans, cleaned, trimmed, and cut into 2-inch pieces

3 links of Italian Sausage (I prefer the spicy sausage)

1 tablespoon Olive Oil

2 cloves of Garlic, minced

¼ cup dried French Onion Shreds, coarsely chopped

½ teaspoon of Lemon Pepper

Juice of ½ of a Lemon


In a large saute pan, heat the olive oil. Take the sausage meat out of the skins, and place the meat into the pan.  Add the garlic, and cook until the sausage is cooked all the way through, and then set aside.  Steam the green beans (we use a steamer for the microwave, which works great) until al dente.  Add the green beans to the saute pan along with the sausage, and sprinkle with the lemon pepper, salt and pepper.  Heat over a medium or low heat. Stir everything together until the green beans are done (about 2 to 3 minutes). Remove from the heat, and place the green beans in a serving dish.  Sprinkle the lemon juice on top, mix, and then sprinkle the top with the dried onion shreds.  Serve immediately.
