Plum Sauce for a Chinese-style, Roasted Duck

This is our favorite plum sauce when we make a Chinese-style roasted duck, and we're certain you'll love the wonderful flavor of it as well.

No special culinary equipment is needed for the preparation of this wonderful Chinese sauce for a Chinese-style, roasted Duck.



6 cups of fresh Plums, pitted and chopped

¾ cup of Red Onion, finely chopped

4 cloves of Garlic, minced

½ cup of Cider Vinegar

⅓ cup of Soy Sauce

2 tablespoons of Ginger, freshly grated

3 tablespoons of Hoisin Sauce




3 tablespoons of Honey

2 tablespoons of Brown Sugar

1 teaspoon of Chinese Five Spice





In a large stock pot, heat all ingredients for about 20-30 minutes.  Remove it from heat and let it cool.  Once it is cooled, put the ingredients into a food processor in batches. Once it is processed down, add the plum sauce back into the same saucepan and heat it again for about 15 minutes more.  Remove it from the heat and set it aside.  Store it in the refrigerator until it ready to use.
